What happens in this new "Demons Of Insanity - Chapter V" in concept terms? It is true that this new album is based on a social critical?

Yes, youre absolutely right. The title Demon of insanity means to become a slave of our time, of the problems we have, of the mistakes the mankind makes. Just think about the air pollution or the unstopable progress of the science. Sure it has good sides but it also has a lot of bad sides. And we are about to lose control of these bad sides.

Can you explain us the composition process of the band? Being a drummer, how do you do to compose songs?

Besides the drums I also play guitar, so I can create my own ideas and riffs and record them on my computer. Otherwise I would forget them, hahaha...Most of the time at first I have a guitar-riff, than I try to create the song. But we all collect some ideas or some songs and put them all together. Then we choose which ideas/songs we could use for the band. Then we have about 20 songs collected for which our singer tries to create melodies. After these melodies are on tape we choose which ones will make it on the album and write the lyrics.

In what did you inspire for this album?

Fortunatelly Im always inspired in writing songs or making music! The one and only reason why Im doing this is that I love making music and playing Heavy Metal in special.

What can the fans expect from this album, comparing with the previous?

This time we tried to make the album very dynamic with strong melodies and powerfull songs. But I think everybody who liked Metalium before will like us after hearing "Demons of insanity" even more, hahaha...

Ive noticed more mature drums on this album, that has been planed, or it was the result of the maturation process during this last years with the band?

Thank you for this! Im happy to see that you recognized that! I always try to get better and better in palying drums or guitars. So this time it worked perfectly, I guess. Im very proud of the drums on the new record. Probably the best record Ive ever made. And I just neede 2 days to record the whole album, thats funny, isnt it. I think I was in good shape, hahaha....

There arent going to be any cover on this album? The band has accustomed us with covers.

Actually we recorded "Rockn`Roll Crazy Nights" from Loudness, but that will only appear on the japanese version of our cd!

Since the beginning that Metalium are one of the best bands of the style, but they havent got the deserve recognition. Do you think that with this album they finally go to have the deserved respect?

Thats hard to say. In my opinion some people are prisoners of their own mind! And Im afraid that they wont give us a chance. But we cant do anything against it. As long as we have fans who keep the band alive its okay!

What distinguishes Metalium from other bands of the same style?

Im sure that we created our own style after all these years. Besides that we have one of the best singers in the world, so thats a big advantage! And we try to be true to ourselves - we never thought about changing our musical direction or anything.

How about the promotional gig, Metalium goes to be the headliner or will go to open for bigger bands, are this already being planned?

No, unfortunatelly theres nothing planned right now. In my opinion it would be the best to go out as a support-act with a bigger band otherwise it would be hard to reach enough people to make Metalium more known.

We hope you can pass here, we almost can say that since that you entered in the band that the band hasnt played here nevermore.

Thats true, but that isnt my fault, hahaha! I hope that will change this year!

Youve played for the first time in Japan territory. How was that? The Japanese crowd is much different from the European one?

Every country its a bit different to another. In Japan they have a much different culture to our! But it was great being in Japan. Not everyone has the chance to come over and play there! It was fantastic - the people like our show very much. We hope to come back next year! Well see....

What are the plans for the nearest future? Are you already preparing the new DVD?

We will probably release a second dvd in autumn/winter 2005, which features live and backstage shooting and studio reports from the last three albums. Im really looking forward to it!

The drummer has a very close relation with the bass player. Its easy for you to play with Lars? He has already been considered one of the best metal bass players.

We are a good team - in the band as musicians and as songwriters/producers. We often have the same vision and the same opinion and I think that this good relationship can be heard on the records.

You have already started to participate in other projects, for example, Amadeus'Spell and in the solo band of Saeko. How did this participations in these projects happened?

Im always interested in making music. So it was clear that Lars asked me to participate on these projects. The next "Saeko"-CD is in the making and maybe it will be released this year! Its alwaays a lot of work but also a lot of fun, too.

Do you only live of music or you have other sources of income? What have you made before entering for the band?

I played in several local metal bands. The last one called "Murder One". Unfortunatelly Im not able to live of music, so I have to do some other things. For example Im working in a school as a teacher for the young students. Its a lot of fun, too. But if Id have the choice than I would prefer to do music the whole day! But its not that easy...

Weve reached the end, do you want to left a message to the Portuguese fans?
